讲座嘉宾简介
Man-Nok Wong is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management and Marketing, Faculty of Business, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He received his Ph.D. in Management from the Hong Kong Baptist University. His research focuses on human resource (HR) policies and practices, workplace social etiquette, and advanced research methods. Additionally, he co-developed SRM_R, an interactive web-based Shiny app for social relations analysis. His research has been published in leading academic journals including Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, and Organizational Research Methods, and has been featured in Harvard Business Review, The New York Times, Daily Mail (UK) and Business Insider. Currently, he serves as the principal investigator for two external research grants, including the Hong Kong Research Grants Council’s Early Career Scheme (ECS) and the National Natural Science Foundation of China’s Young Scientists Fund.
讲座摘要
Scientific advances occur when scholars adopt a new way of seeing social phenomena. Across these two talks, I illustrate how organizational scholars can expand theoretical boundaries through this new perspective. In the first talk, I introduce triadic modeling and the srmt R package, demonstrating how multi-level variance partitioning allows researchers to ask new sets of questions beyond traditional social network analysis, laboratory experiments, and psychometrics. In the second talk, I turn to theoretical storytelling, demonstrating how to build compelling research motivation and deliver genuine theoretical contributions by changing, advancing, and extending existing theories.
